You know all those scam ads we get here i.e. "woman reveals the $5 liquid botox secret!""How did Oprah lose so much weight? Find out now!" They are run of course by scammers like Jesse Willms who fleeced consumers to the tune of one billion dollars. Biggest advertisers on Facebook and Google are scammers like Jesse. Not too nice for Facebook, Google to help these people fleece us but that is their business model, i.e. ads. Caveat emptor!
Facebook, Google advertising credit card scam, con, fraud |
It's a long article so I'll summarize it. Jesse Willms wants to make money so he starts an online scam biz. He offers diet and wrinkle products "risk free" but you have to pay tiny amount for shipping with your credit card. He then charges your credit card over and over, refuses to let you cancel your order. He made $1,000,000,000 doing this, got caught, handed over some property to the government and did it again. He also sold some bogus Microsoft software and a few other scams. Below is the article.
If you see an ad for something that sounds too good to be true, it is. The only way to get rid of wrinkles is plastic surgery, laser or dermabrasion. You can't just put a drop of lotion on your face. The only way to lose weight is to eat less and/or exercise more. You can't just take an over the counter pill though prescription diet pills do work. If someone offers you a cheap product that sounds too good to be true, is "risk free" or "free trial," it is most likely a scam. Don't buy it. Same with the "get rich quick!" scams or over the counter viagra-like drugs.
If for some reason you really, really want to buy the product, buy it with a store bought debit card that only has the cost of the shipping and handling on the card. Do not use a reloadable card, debit card attached to a bank account or regular credit card.
If you did buy a scam product with a regular credit, debit card, cancel the account because they won't stop charging you until the account is empty.
You should also Google search the name of the product, vendor, address and see if there are rip off, scam or fraud reports. If you do get scammed, please, post about it on rip off report and other similar scam websites to alert others. If you read the article above, these scammers use many names, addresses, vendor names to sell the same product.
