UPDATE: Rescue picked him up and took him to the vet. He is old, has mange, vision issues but looks okay to me so far. Hopefully they can fix whatever is causing his bloody diarrhea. Pics below. He's at East Valley Veterinary under the care of Leave no paws left behind Inc,

When I volunteered at East Valley animal shelter I'd arrive before the doors opened. There would be a box of unwanted kittens, bag with a dead dog in it, old dying cat in a cat bed in a crate. I'd have to carry these in. There'd also sometimes be a distraught poor person holding their beloved dying pet who couldn't afford to take to the vet to euthanize. The shelter would euthanize for them. Tough times just like this note.
It's amazing that this poor, elderly, sick couple did the compassionate thing for their dog when other heartless people just dump them in the street like trash. Dog was at Baldwin Park shelter. A rescue group went to the shelter to be with the dog while he went to sleep.
