There are some scammers pretending to sell baby skunks as pets from Africa. It is a scam. There are no baby pet skunks for sale. I was informed of this scam as they are using my photos. Mary Cummins and Animal Advocates would NEVER sell any wild animal. It's illegal besides unethical and a very bad idea. If you see an ad for baby skunks for sale, it's most likely a scam. They are only legal in a few US states. For more information on their legality check out Skunk Haven. http://www.skunkhaven.net Below are my photos they are using. Below that is their con letter. They even named these skunks "Duke" and "Bella." They're all the same skunk except the last photo. Those are two boys. He is not 17 weeks but 3.5 weeks old.
"Hi,
Thank you for your email and the interest in the Skunk Babies. I have Skunk Babies available now to go to new homes! I have two Skunk Babies presently available for adoption.
All of my Skunk Babies are my treasured pets. I spend many hours each day with them; consequently, they are all very tame. Although I love them very much but i need to send them out as a result of my work, i spend too much time at work and i have no time to look after them. This is a difficult decision for me to come to, but I feel very strongly that there are too many good homes out there where the Skunk Babies will have the attention they need.
I prefer to send both Skunk Babies to one home (they really need to be with their own kind). Skunk Babies are so much happier when they have Skunk companions and it's really the best way to keep them; I feel strongly about keeping Skunks with their friends.
You may ask yourself why my prices on Skunks are so much less than the pet stores. Well, it's really pretty simple. These Skunk Babies are all raised or nurtured here, so there's no middleman! The most important thing to me is to find good, well-qualified homes for my sweet babies.
The Skunk Babies are Registered, Healthy, current on immunization and Vet Checked. They are socialized, good with kids and other pets. I raised them from birth.
They would be sent with their USDA Permit which authorizes you keep the Skunks and it will be transferred in your name and address.
There is a male, he is called Duke, he is 17 weeks and 4 days old. I have sent his picture in this email for you to view.
There is a female called Bella, she is 17 weeks and 4 days old, I have her picture in this email for you to view.
I am in need of a home for the Skunks where they can be treated with lots of love, care and attention.
I recently moved from Los Angeles, CA for a new job. I am presently located in Douala, Cameroon. I am working here as an English Language Coordinator. I am a volunteering for this service. I love helping mankind because i believe with all my achievements in life, this is the time for me give thanks to God by serving others. I am here with the Skunk Babies.
I brought them here by Air and I will use same means to send them to you if you decide to adopt them. The Shipping is completely safe for the Skunk Babies. I will send the Skunk Babies from the Douala International Airport, Cameroon and you are going to pick them up from the closest international airport. Your full names, address and the airport for pick up will be required for the flight arrangements. The full flight information will be sent to you when the flight arrangement is made.
To adopt both skunks will require an adoption fee $255, this money covers the flight and adoption expenses.
I provide them with a shipping kennel, veterinarian health checks, insurance, and heat pack (if needed). Plus my guarantee: I do guarantee you will receive healthy Skunk Babies. From the time you take possession of your new Skunk Babies, there is a 72 hour "watch" period. If anything - and I mean anything - seems out of sorts based on our discussions and information I have provided, simply contact me. As long as we are working together to resolve the problem, this guarantee period will be extended indefinitely, until the problem is resolved.
I will assist you with all arrangement and until you receive the Skunk Babies.
Permit me end here while waiting to read from you, Please Feel free to ask any question if there is anything else you need to know.
Thanks for contacting me and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
God Bless."
