I posted about this topic the first year Humane Watch started attacking all of the pro-animal groups. People need to know that Center for Consumer Freedom aka Humane Watch and all their other many names is an organization funded by anti-animal (pro-meat, pro-dairy, pro-leather, pro-fur, pro-animal research, pro-animals in circuses....) organizations. They are also funded by pro-tobacco companies and anti-union companies. Their mission statement as per their 990 is to attack anyone who is speaks against their clients or their products.

HSUS does give money directly for animal care though percentage wise it's not a huge amount. They fund other non-profits such as Fund for Animals, Doris Day... They also help FEMA and Red Cross in emergencies helping animals. I'm a volunteer on their National Disaster Animal Rescue Team. They do a lot of fundraising and pay fundraising companies a bit of money. All of their programs are to prevent animal cruelty, protect animal rights, help animals and other animal nonprofits.
$133M income
$268K Wayne Pacelle income. That is comparable to what a CEO would receive to run an organization of this size. Notice it's much less than what Richard Berman CEO of Humane Watch is taking in which is $1.4M, almost the entire amount given to Humane Watch.

$1.4M income
Richard Berman is the CEO and says he only gets $13K/yr salary. Look below and you will see his PR firm "Richard Berman and Company" gets $1.3M! Almost every penny of income is spent to harm animals. He calls it a "management" fee. The rest of the income goes to advertising, promotion, office expenses, travel and legal fees. NOTHING goes to animals or any worthy cause. They also do a lot of lobbying. They state their main goal is to attack HSUS, PETA… That is their "mission statement." I really don't think they should be a legal non-profit because they are not helping animals, people or the environment. If anything they are anti all of those things. They are a nonprofit so people will not realize they are just paid bashers, PR, lobbyists for the meat industry.
